Fire Inspector / AHJ Training

We are happy to provide training for Inspectors and fire officials free or on a cost reimbursement basis when we can coordinate AHJ training into our normal travel and meeting schedule. We can discuss Fire Alarm Installations, Inspections, False Alarms or any specific items that your staff may need more knowledge of.  We are always available by email for questions from Inspectors or plan reviewers.   AHJs, please contact us to discuss scheduling a class or workshop or to speak at a meeting in your area.

Alarm or Electrical Contractor Training   –  (NOT FASA/BASA)

This is the training for the EC, EF or EG License Holder for the company.

We are not providing Contractor CE training, we have chosen to concentrate on FASA/BASA classes and renewals.  There are many sources for the required hours of Continuing Education necessary to renew your EF, EG or EC License.

There are Electrical and Contractor Schools that provide the License specific course for your renewal as well as approved training from many equipment Distributors and manufacturers in the industry.   Much of the Manufacturer training is offered FREE to their customers.

To get State credit for a class, make sure the training has a course number from the Florida ECLB as Alarm or Electrical Contractor License Holder Continuing Education and that they electronically report your course completion to the Florida ECLB.

CAUTION!   – ALL LICENSE HOLDERS, (EC, EF, EG) IF YOU DO ANY ALARMS , be sure your hours include the required 2 hours of FALSE ALARM Reduction.  If not you will need a separate class for the 2 hours.

SUPPLIER Training – If you are a supplier with product training needs, we can deliver or sponsor your product training and handle the reporting of Student CE hours to the State of Florida.   Contact us to discuss your needs..

CONTRACTOR LICENSE INFORMATION                                                                                For Company Owners or Managers NOT Agents

GETTING A FLORIDA ALARM CONTRACTORS LICENSE

If you want to get a Florida Alarm Contractor I or II License the first step would be to determine if you have the required experience to qualify. The best way to do that is to get the application and fill it out. This will get you started collecting the certificates and documents you need to verify your experience and your financial ability to operate an Alarm Contracting Company. Once the application is completed you can file it with the State of Florida and get scheduled for the State Test. To get started with the process get the application form by clicking Alarm Contractor I (Burg and Fire) or Alarm Contractor II (Burg Only) to go to the Contractor License application page on the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation web site.

Once you know you can meet the experience and financial requirements check out the EXAMINATION information from the State and start preparing for the exam.

If you complete the application you probably have the experience to pass the Alarm part of the exam but the business/finance section is where many applicants fail the test. I strongly recommend that before you take the State Exam you attend a prep course that covers the Business/Financial parts of the exam. This will probably double your chance of passing on the first sitting. I recommend the Exam Prep training from Mike Holt Enterprises. It will give you the information you need to pass the Business part of the State Exam. Click the button below for info on Mike Holt Enterprises exam prep courses.
